Vintage Dog Photography

The photos not only speak for themselves, it would be impossible for me to track down each one to give accurate information about when, where and whom.

Instead, I’ll simply post them for your enjoyment with the reminder that, in times when photography was still an expensive proposition, the fact that people chose to include their dogs in portraits truly speaks volumes about how much dogs meant to them.

We sometimes see the past as a time when animals were held in less regard, and treated with a higher level of abuse. This probably remains true, but it’s still nice to see that animal lovers existed among them.
